The museum is a captivating collection of the town’s past, preserving the stories and artifacts that have shaped its unique identity. From the founding days rooted in the visionary spirit of its founder, Eli Thayer, to the memories of the booming hustle of the railroad in the 40s and the everyday lives of past residents, our museum offers a nostalgic glimpse into the eras that have left an indelible mark on our town. With exhibits that showcase local heritage, milestones, and the everyday lives of Ceredo’s residents, the Ceredo Town Museum invites you to connect with the past and discover a piece of what makes Ceredo a truly special town.

The Ceredo Petroglyph: The largest and best preserved petroglyph in the United States. Collection also includes arrowheads, fossils, shells, and an Indian grinding stone.

Civil War Collection: Letters, requisitions, and treatment book from Camp Pierpoint in Ceredo. Z. D. Ramdell’s saddle and diary for 1886. Cannonballs and mini balls

Micro Film: The Ceredo Advance newspapers from 1881 to the publications end in 1936. Reader/Printer available.

Early History: Pioneer tools, homemaking utensils, quilts handmade dresses, and side saddles. WWI and WWII uniforms, leggings, blankets, flag blankets, ration books, and stamps. 

Newspapers and magazines. Vietnam Uniform.

Schools: Yearbooks from C-K and Buffalo High Schools, Marshall and West Virginia Universities, and The Naval Academy. Class photos, band uniforms, school letters, diplomas, and more.

Railroads: “N” gauge layout of Ceredo and Kenova with trains and trolleys from the 1940s era. Collections of letters (some from Collis P. Huntington dealing with the C&O Railroad), train memorabilia from all rail lines.

Books: Large selection of books magazines, and publications dealing with the history of the Ceredo area, our State, and Nation.

Visual: Over 20 albums of photos spanning 140 years. Many scrapbooks, videotapes of senior citizens, and special events.

Genealogy: Census of 1850, 1860, Cemetery listings for most cemeteries in Wayne County. Books and files of genealogies.

Handblown Glass: Beautiful, diverse collection dating back half a century.
