EEO Policy

The Town of Ceredo is committed to the principle of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) in any term, condition, or privilege of employment. The Town has an EEO policy that provides a uniform set of standards governing the equality of opportunity for Town employees and job applicants. The policy states:

“It is the policy of the Town of Ceredo to recruit, hire, train and promote employees without discrimination because of race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, sex or gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, blindness, disability, marital status, veteran status, or any other status protected by federal, state, or local laws. For the purposes of this policy, discrimination based on race includes, but is not limited to, discrimination based on hair textures and protective hairstyles historically associated with a particular race. Protective hairstyles include, but are not limited to, braids, locks, and twists.”

This policy is applied to all employment actions including, but not limited to, recruitment, hiring, promotion, transfer, demotion, layoff, termination, rates of pay, or other forms of compensation and selection for training, including internship. This policy applies to all employees, including supervisors, co-workers, and non-employees such as contractors, clients, vendors, boards and commissions, and the public at large.

Compliance

The Mayor and Town Council endorse and support the policy of equal opportunity, which reflects the Town’s commitment to equal employment opportunity. All personnel with responsibility for employment and personnel decisions are directed to perform their duties in accordance with this policy.

The Town Clerk is responsible for providing coordination, guidance, and assistance to Town employees in implementing this policy. The Town Clerk for the Town of Ceredo shall be the Human Resources Director.
